Transforming a Wirral school

Works are progressing well at Somerville Primary School, Wallasey, where HMS secured a major refurbishment and extension contract in July.

Wirral Council, which manages the school, initially chose HMS to deliver internal upgrades to three classrooms, including both refurbishment and modernisation project elements.

With this first project phase now reaching completion, HMS has also been appointed to refurbish and extend the school’s administration spaces, including a new reception office with an open counter and increased office space.

Both contracts are transforming the existing single-storey school building into a bright, modern and welcoming facility, complete with new cupboards and vanity units, alterations to the building electrical system, new suspended ceiling, new flooring and full redecoration.

Wirral Council tendered both schemes on the basis of a select list of 6 derived from Constructionline - one of the UK’s leading providers of procurement and supply chain management.

HMS Managing Director Paul Worthington said, “Securing these contracts underlines HMS’ ability to deliver first-class services and meet challenging customer deadlines.

“We are delighted to have been selected for this project as we continue our growth in 2017 and beyond.”

Somerville Primary is just one of many high-quality construction projects being delivered by HMS across the North West region and follows on from the successful completion of new teaching and administration buildings at other schools across the region.
